Our Mission: Empowerment Through Food
We believe that food has the power to drive economic opportunity and transform lives. When you dine with us, order catering, or shop at The Grocery on Broad, you directly support job training, internships, and apprenticeships for individuals overcoming barriers like poverty, incarceration, homelessness, and addiction.
Building Futures, One Meal at a Time
Every dish we serve fuels our culinary and customer service job training program. Trainees gain hands-on experience in a real restaurant environment, learning the skills they need to build meaningful careers. Upon completing the program, they have access to transitional employment, externships, and apprenticeships—helping them take the next step toward self-sufficiency.

Our menus celebrate the diverse flavors of the Americas, crafted with fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients whenever possible. Located in Frog Hollow, Hartford, near the State Capitol and The Bushnell Theater, we’re proud to serve both our guests and our mission.
Beyond the Table: Our Products & Merchandise
Take a piece of Fire by Forge home with you. Shop at The Grocery on Broad for housemade granola, spice rubs, and our signature Frog Hollow Blend coffee (crafted by Benny’s Beans). We also proudly serve Up n Down Rock n Bourbon, a locally crafted spirit by our General Manager, Justin Morales—available online.
A Commitment to Fair Compensation
At Fire by Forge, we believe in treating our employees with the respect and pay they deserve. That’s why we apply an 19% Benefits & Compensation Service Charge to every guest check. This charge directly supports fair wages, benefits, and a 5% revenue share among our team—ensuring equitable compensation for both kitchen and front-of-house staff.
